Private Orchards is now a blog
Private Orchards is relaunching as a privacy blog with an OSINT mindset and an Apple twist, plus a free PDF guide and the tools we actually use.
Hi, and welcome back. Private Orchards has a new shape. Here’s a quick tour.
The idea hasn’t changed. We look at privacy the way someone researching you would. What can a stranger, a data broker or a nosy ex learn from your phone, your accounts and what’s public about you? Then we cut that down, starting with your iPhone.
What’s changed is how we share it.
A free guide, in one PDF
The step-by-step guides that used to be spread across the site now live in one free downloadable guide. There’s no sign-up and no email to hand over.
It opens with a simple threat model, so you can pick your level: Everyday, Private or High-risk. Each level tells you which guides to do, and each guide fits on one page, with links to Apple’s own help pages.
Blog posts that go deeper
The blog is where we dig into one setup at a time: what it protects, where it falls short, and how to set it up properly. Two to start with:
- Always-On VPN on iPhone: three ways to keep a VPN connected, and the trade-offs of each.
- Choosing a default password manager: Bitwarden, Proton Pass or a KeePassXC file you control, and how to move your passwords safely.
Short videos
Some settings are easier to show than to describe, so we’re starting short videos that walk through one setting at a time. We’ll share them here and on X.
Tools we use
The Tools page lists the apps and services we recommend, free options first. Some of those links are affiliate links. They support the site at no extra cost to you, and they never decide what we recommend.
No ads, no trackers, no tracking scripts. That part stays the same.
Follow along by RSS or on X at @privateorchards. Thanks for being here.
