Notification previews can reveal message content, sender names, verification codes, calendar details, bank alerts, health reminders, package updates, and more all before you even unlock your phone.

Disable previews by default, then make stricter choices for sensitive apps. Your Lock Screen should not leak private information!

News outlets recently reported the FBI recovered copies of deleted Signal messages from iPhone’s notification database. This showed notification previews can copy sensitive content outside of secure, encrypted apps.

Apple addressed parts of this in later updates, but disabling previews can reduce how much sensitive content is copied into the notification system.
