Limit Application Permissions to Location Data
| Title | Limit Application Permissions to Location Data |

| Category | ๐ Location & Tracking |
Description
Section titled โDescriptionโYour location is one of the most sensitive things your iPhone can share. It can reveal where you live, work, worship, study, shop, travel, and spend time. Apps should not get that information unless they clearly need it.
Even when an app needs location, it usually only needs it while you are actively using the app. Be strict with Always access and turn off Precise Location unless exact GPS is truly needed.
Settings and Recommendations
Section titled โSettings and RecommendationsโUse the menu paths below on your iPhone to find the setting and apply the recommendation that fits most people.
| Menu Path | Recommended Setting |
|---|---|
Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Location Services โ [app] | Never or While Using if required. |
Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Location Services โ [app] โ Precise Location | Off - unless absolutely necessary |
Additional Context
Section titled โAdditional Contextโ- Precise Location: Allows an app to see your exact location instead of a more general area. Turn it off unless exact GPS is necessary, such as navigation, rideshare pickup, delivery, or emergency-related features.
- Always: Allows location access in the background. Treat this as sensitive and reserved for trusted apps that truly need location when you are not using them.
- While Using: Allows location only when the app is open or actively in use. This is the right default for most apps that you deem need location.
